Fleadh Events

Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan will be held in Roscrea from July 13 - 19 2008. The Munster Fleadh Cheoil has something for everybody

An integral part of Fleadh na Mumhan each year is Scoil Fonn agus Amhráin providing tuition in slow-air playing and traditional singing to scholarship winners from the six counties of Munster

The Slide and Polka Workshops is also a hugely popular part of the Fleadh programme. This year's tutor will be Billy Clifford. This workshop is open to any interested participants

For many the most important part of a Fleadh weekend are the competitions. The competition timetable will soon be available for download

A number of special concerts will take place during the Fleadh week - including an Oíche Ghaelach with Seamus Ó Coistealbha, a night of poetry, songs and stories with John Browne and an Uilleann piping concert with John Winhim

Fans of set and ceili dancing will not be dissapointed. Along with ceilithe over the Fleadh weekend in the Grants Hotel, the senior and junior set-dancing competitions also promise top quality dancing

There will be singing sessions aplenty along with the traditional singing competitions to be heard at the Fleadh. The Singing Club is also to place to be over the weekend with well known singer Tadhg Maher acting as Fear an Tí

The pubs of Roscrea will be filled with the sound of Irish music over the weekend. A session trail featuring a host of top-class musicians will be arranged throughout the town. Don't worry we also leave some places free for those of you who wish to start up your own impromptu sessions
